David is a registered Specialist in Surgical Dentistry and has a Masters Degree in Dental Implantology. Combined with over 20 years of hospital based oral surgery experience, and his placement of thousands of successful dental implants, this makes him one of the most experienced and highly qualified dental implant surgeons in the South West.
David graduated from the London Hospital Medical College in 1992, with a keen interest in surgery. After two years in general practice in Essex, and doing a concurrent part-time assistant post in Oral Surgery in Epping, he moved permanently into the field of oral surgery and held a senior position as Staff Grade Oral Surgeon in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital from 1995 to 2012. In 1996 he gained his FDS at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in 2000 was awarded Specialist Status in Surgical Dentistry by the General Dental Council. He has extensive experience in all forms of head and neck surgery.
He has always had a long-standing interest in dental implantology, having won scholarships to both Toronto and Gothenburg to further his knowledge and experience in this field, and gaining a Masters Degree with distinction in Dental Implantology in 2005, from Warwick University. He now examines for the Royal College of Surgeons on the subject of implants.
He has an active interest in postgraduate education and lectures locally to dental nurses, dental and medical practitioners, and nationally to vocational trainees.
He also currently sits on both the councils of the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the British Association of Surgical Dentistry, and is locally active with the Exeter & District section of the British Dental Association.
Socially, he is an outdoors man who loves all sports - from waterskiing, windsurfing and wake-boarding, to tennis, cricket and golf. He loves cooking and music and is an excellent pianist.
